Growing up in Washington D.C., Helen has been involved in animal business since her first venture as a dog walker at the age of 12. She graduated from Frostburg University with a B.S., and went on to use her business training managing a canine boarding facility, while volunteering at the National Zoo. She gained experience educating the public as an interpreter at the kids farm, and she learned animal behavior as a keeper aid in the small mammal house. She went on to refine her veterinary technical training at Banfield Veterinary Hospital where she worked for three years. To advance her technical training she joined the team at Friendship Animal Hospital, D.C. There she worked in the urgent care, the physical therapy department, and the oncology department. She is also a lifelong equestrian and enjoys teaching her young daughter to ride. Her endless patience and communication skills are vital to our practice. She and her family have one dog and one cat.

Dr. DeAnna recommends vaccinating against canine influenza if your dog is boarded, playing with other dogs at the dog park, or other such social activities.
